Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth

The Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth was founded by Blessed Mother Frances Siedliska in 1875.

Blessed Mother Frances believed that families are the centre of loving relationships and are the source of lessons of love and self-identity. Blessed Mother Frances made it her mission to support family life and values.

Today the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth are dedicated to continuing this mission and oversee numerous ministries including education, child and aged care, spiritual guidance and pastoral care.

At Holy Family Services, there are seven sisters involved across the organisation serving as board members, nurses, mission/pastoral care and educators. Their mission is to continue the legacy of the founding Sisters and ensure their values are represented throughout the organisation.

About Blessed Frances Siedliska

Frances Siedliska was born to a wealthy landowning family in 1842. Spending her childhood and youth in a noble society, she encountered great resistance from her father when she expressed her desire to lead a religious life.

Only when he died was she able to pursue her dream and opened the first convent of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth in Rome in 1875.

With this in mind, Frances spent her life serving the community and inspiring others to support families by providing education, spiritual guidance and health care. By the time she died in 1902, she had established 29 convents that transcended national boundaries.

Frances Siedliska was beatified by Pope John Paul II on 23rd April 1998.

More than 1300 Sisters serve in Italy, Poland, Australia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Russia, Israel, Ghana, England, France, Syria, Philippines and the United States today.
