Training and Assessment

Holy Family Services RTO integrated flexible mode of delivery and assessment is achieved through the following:

Online Learning

Students are provided with a log-in to access Holy Family Services online learning portal where they can access all scheduled learning, support and assessment materials.  The comprehensive materials enable students to complete reading and research, knowledge preparation, formative and summative assessment submission. The amount of time students need varies upon the individual and is achievable within the time frame set for each course.

Face to Face Sessions

Students in all Holy Family Services RTO courses have face to face sessions scheduled with their trainer. These face to face sessions are designed to include but not limited to lectures, workshops, activities, group/individual student support and more based on the needs of the course. These face to face sessions are conduced in Holy Family Services RTO training room, Workplace and/or through Zoom online.Where a student requires additional support and time, trainers will schedule extra face to face zoom sessions with the student to support their additional learning needs.

Mandatory Work Placement

Students in some Holy Family Services RTO courses where students are required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills in the workplace for successful completion of their course. Please refer to course information for courses requiring work placement.

Assessment Methods

Students are required to undertake a range of theoretical and practical assessments for each unit of competency. The methods of assessment will vary according to the requirements of each unit of competency in the course and these include but are not limited to:

  • Knowledge questions
  • Verbal questions
  • Case studies
  • Projects
  • Essays
  • Portfolios
  • Practical demonstrations
  • Workplace observations
  • Presentations

At the beginning of each unit of competency, students are provided with information for that unit of competency that clearly outlines the assessment tasks required including the criteria and scheduled due dates.

Materials, Resources and Library Access

Holy Family Services RTO students have access to all required student resources through the online learning portal. These include as a minimum all learner guides, assessments and additional support materials. As these materials are accessed online students must provide their own laptop/desktop computer and internet access/connection for successful completion of their course.

Holy Family Services RTO students can also join local city council libraries in each area. As an example, students living in NSW can complete an online application to join the City of Sydney Library Service through the online website at https://library.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/Montage/join.aspx as they have an extensive range of research materials available.

The conditions of membership are as follows:

  • Membership is free to all residents of NSW
  • Students must agree to abide by all City of Sydney Library Services policies and conditions of use and:
    • Accept responsibility for all items borrowed on the library card
    • Pay replacement costs plus processing charges for any items lost, stole nor damaged
  • Students must report lost/stolen cards to the City of Sydney Library Service immediately
  • Return borrowed items on or before the due date or check whether the item can be renewed
  • Respect the rights and staff and other library users
  • Notify the City of Sydney Library Services of any changes to contact details provided

Vocational Training and Future Employment

While Holy Family Services RTO works closely with the aged care industry, there is no guarantee of employment for Holy Family Services RTO students or graduates.
